As I’ve said before, I’m not first and foremost a lyricist. I usually consider myself a co-songwriter most of the time. Recently, though, I was turned on to a truly remarkable book: Writing Better Lyrics, by Pat Patterson. It breaks down writing lyrics to fundamental, easy to understand exercises. I highly recommend this to anyone who struggles with lyrics like I do. I just wish I had this book ten years ago!
