Leading Worship with a Pedalboard

For me, when I lead worship at Crash, I’m caught between two worlds: a singer and a guitarist. Along with my rack project, I wanted to have a second board that could be “travel” sensitive, but also provide me with the ergonomic layout that allows accessibility of all the effects and would also prevent me from unintentionally stomping on something while singing. I ended up designing a board that could emulate some of the rack’s potential sounds so it could act as a “B” rig, but I also included some unique features so its a powerful setup in its own right.

My Worship Leading board

As you can tell, the center of the board controls all the pedals. On the bottom, is a 4 switch looper made by Analogman. From right to left it controls it the Keeley Compressor, the Okko Diablo (High Gain), Analogman Sunface(set at 11 o’clock), and the Timmy (Lower gain). Then, to control the Modfactor and Timefactor, I have an Axess MFC-5 which sends Midi program changes to each units. Also included in the board is an Ernie ball Volume, and an Erine Ball volume 25k to control expression of the Timefactor. Also, there is a Boss FS for Tap Tempo as well.

Overall, this hits almost all of my needs and is an excellent layout for leading worship.

The signal chain is: Furman Pedal board input>MXR MicroAmp (as a signal buffer)>Analogman 4 Switcher>Keeley Compressor>Okko Diablo>Analogman Sunface>Timmy>Boss EQ>Ernie Ball Volume>Modfactor>Timefactor>Amp 1/Amp 2

(The second Ernie ball controls Timfactor Expression, Boss FS controlls Tap Tempo, the Axess MCF5 controlls PC for Eventide Pedals)
